A musical based upon the comic strip Little Orphan Annie Music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin.
It is December 1933 and America is in the midst of the Great Depression.
Our show begins at 4 a.m. on a chilly morning in an Orphanage on the Lower East Side of New York.
It is here that we find an eleven year old Annie who was left on the orphanage door step at the age of two with a note saying:-
"Please take good care of our little darling.
Her name is ANNIE.....
We have left half a silver locket around her neck and kept the other half so when we come back for her,
you will know that she's our baby."
Despite the lack of love and affection from Miss Hannigan who runs the orphanage,
Annie has become the eternal optimist,
expecting each day to be a new "tomorrow",
with the possibility of her parents returning.
For eleven years she has had no luck, but has retained hope for the future.
Annie's luck changes when she is invited to stay at the home of billionaire Oliver Warbucks for the Christmas season.
The effect that Annie has on Oliver Warbucks, his staff and the President of the United States
provides and enjoyable evening of family entertainment.
